PUBLIC SCHOOL HOLIDAYS


In Maryland, if federal and State observances of a holiday fall on different days, each local board of education determines on which date the holiday will be observed in its public schools (Code Education Article, sec. 7-103).

2003

January 1 (Wednesday) New Year's Day
January 20 (Monday) Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Birthday*
February 17 (third Monday) Presidents' Day
April 18-21 Good Friday through the day after Easter
May 26 (Monday) Memorial Day*
November 27 (fourth Thursday), & 28 Thanksgiving Day and the day after
December 24-31 (Thursday) Christmas Eve through end of year

2002

January 1 New Year's Day

February 18 (third Monday) Presidents' Day
March 29 - April 1 Good Friday through the day after Easter
May 27 (Monday) Memorial Day
November 5 Election Day
